A Bespoke Tilly Thomas Lux crown for a midsummer nights dream wedding
This blog is so special to me because lovely Sophie is one of my very favourite brides and a beautiful person. We had a great appointment in my old studio and still keep in touch now. Sophie and her family are some of the nicest people I’ve met in the years I’ve been running TTL and I’m over the moon to be sharing her wedding pictures with you.
I’m obsessed with the lace on Sophie’s dress. So beautiful and delicate and I love the high neck and low back. Sophie and I worked together to design a bespoke crown for her and it’s was such a beautiful experience. Sophie has sent me some words below and I’m not even going to pretend that I didn’t cry like a baby when I read them:
“We got engaged in 2017 and started to wedding plan straight away. In my mind I knew exactly how I wanted our wedding to look, the theme was “a midsummer night’s dream”. We wanted our guests to feel like they were lost in a fairy land full of nature and magic.
As soon as we were engaged my mum and I started the hunt for unique and beautiful bridal brands. Tilly Thomas Lux first came onto our radar in an instagram post a friend in fashion uploaded. The image was of beautiful flowing hair studded with sparkles and stars, we were captivated! We started to look into her brand and at her pieces, almost immediately I had decided on “Lucia” and “Callisto moon” for my bridesmaids. The pieces are delicate and timeless and I wanted to give the girls something they could keep and re-wear.
My mum messaged Sally on instagram and they clicked instantly, during a dress fitting in London my mum arranged as a surprise for us to meet Sally for a bespoke bridal appointment with my bridesmaids.
As soon as we met we just clicked! Sally is one of the most genuine and amazing people I have ever met. We took photos of my day dress, talked about everything that was important to me as a bride - even to the point Sally asked what earrings I would be wearing and when I explained they were my late Nan’s opal drop earrings she incorporated them into the crown! She paid close attention to my engagement ring and tied that into the design of the crown, chose pieces with my mum that had those same stones in as well so we would all be on a theme. It was perfect! We drank champagne and laughed together for ages it was honestly one of the best parts of the wedding build up (second only to the hen do!).
Sally spoilt us so much and continued to stay in close contact through out the design process sending beautiful sketches and little sneak peaks via email. I knew that the piece was designed just for me, it wasn’t about Sally making jewellery, it was about her meeting us all connecting with us, forming a genuine friendship that last to this day and wanting to make our wedding day perfect!
When the pieces arrived we were blown away, the quality is unbelievable, they fit beautifully and to look at are just incredible. On the wedding day we were very lucky with the weather and the sun just made the pieces pop even more!
My mum even surprised me with “Mrs M” clips for the night time, we were so impressed with her amazing work! I have have been lucky enough to become pregnant too and on Mother’s Day this year I received another beautiful TTL piece, “hot mama” clips for my baby shower (like lots of events cancelled due to corona virus). I wore them all day and felt as magical as I did on my wedding day!
I wear my Mrs M clips for lots of special occasions and wore them through out my honeymoon. Each TTL piece I have means so so much, they are heirlooms for our family now, every special occasion in our lives we need some sparkle, some Sally magic to make it pop!
The best thing about finding Sally though has been the lovely friendship we have struck up, I can honestly say that every single piece she creates is made with love and made just for you! It’s not mass produced, it’s not about a trend, it’s just about Sally getting to know her brides and putting a little bit of her soul and a lot of yours into something beautiful. I feel very very lucky to have so much TTL and I hope that as a family we will have many more celebrations and a lot more TTL!”
