A Beaded Wedding Dress and Tilly Thomas Lux Oceania Crown for a City Wedding
I was totally overjoyed when I received these beautiful pictures of stunning bride Hana’s wedding in my inbox. This wonderful couple had a City wedding full of luxe details and personal touches so get ready as you’re going to want to pin EVERYTHING!
Hana and Eddie are both from large blended families. Their siblings and wedding party came from all over the globe; Brooklyn New York, Bangkok Thailand, Perth Austrailia, Brisbane Australia & Dubai.
“We always wanted a winter wedding and to accommodate our guests we fixed on December to celebrate our Rave Union! Yep, that’s what we called it because Eddie and his friends DJ. We met through events, parties and on the dancefloor of many a nightclub. We LOVE to dance!!! The vibe went from Disco to House to Techno with some Motown and Funk classics thrown in for good measure.
To break up the day we chose two venues which helped play to both our interests of Vintage, stylish glamour. Aspire (an old penny bank) and our friend’s amazing creative venue and event space, Duke Studios @Sheaf Street Cafeteria for the Nightclub/Warehouse vibes.
Aspire is a beautiful Georgian building with marble columns, a stunning tiled floor and art deco quartz bar. A fabulous 20 ft Christmas tree and festive touches. I planned the ceremony with my Man of Honour and Wedding ‘Celebrant’ Robin, including a secret gospel choir to surprise my husband Eddie (as he was in charge of all music for the day). It wasn’t a formal affair, it was peppered with personal touches and nothing went to plan but it added to charm of our offbeat ways! I actually met [our Celebrant] Robin on Come Dine with Me, the Yorkshire episode four years ago and we have been best friends ever since. I couldn’t have asked for anyone else to marry Eddie and I.”
Hana’s florals were totally gorgeous, all British grown and the couple tried to be as sustainable as possible when choosing their suppliers, choosing to work with independent creatives (like me!) for their outfits, from bespoke denim jackets, bow ties, jewellery and shoes.
Their reception was right up my street! It was decked out in green eucalyptus foliage, foil balloon wall & selfie station, not to mention the disco balls.
“We added subtle touches from Leeds and Yorkshire to the day such as Yorkshire tea based cocktails, Don’t Mess with Yorkshire keepsakes from a skateshop we love off Briggate in the Victorian shopping arcades. We gifted our suppliers with the DMWY tea towels, stickers along with Yorkshire tea and sweet treats to keep them going.”
I’m totally thrilled I was able to play a part in Hana and Eddie’s big day. She chose to wear our Oceania crown and it looked amazing with her beaded dress. I’m also a huge fan of her bespoke denim jacket too. Check out the gallery below for beautiful images by The Curries.
Thank you for sharing your epic day with me Hana. Sending you so much love and a massive congratulations!
Love & sparkle,
Sally xxx
