A Star-Strewn Opal Headband for a Gold Accented London Wedding
Happy New Year you beauties! I hope you all had a wonderfully sparkly Christmas and a even more glitter-scattered New Year? 2016 was such an incredible year for Tilly Thomas Lux and I just want to say the most humungous thank you to every single one of you for supporting, loving and believing in us - here’s to an even more glorious 2017.
I’m kicking off the year by meeting more of you gorgeous brides to be and a little further down the line, TTL is super excited to be exhibiting at A Most Curious Wedding Fair for the very first time in March - if you’re going, pop over and say hi! I wonder if any newly engaged lovelies are reading today? I love a New Years Eve proposal! Fireworks, sparkles, bubbles, a gorgeously glittering ring…heaven. And 2017 brides - you’re getting married this year! Hooray!
Today I’m honoured to be sharing the real bride story of the beautiful Natalie who married her love on 10th September 2016 at Bethnal Green Town Hall and Apartments. This Edwardian gem has the most stunning Art Deco interiors and an absolutely show-stopping marble staircase; totally perfect for a bridal entrance.
Natalie’s fabulous, laid-back nuptials were smattered with glittering golden accents, bright blooms and a star-strewn headpiece of grey opals partly inspired by her elegant Delphine Manivet gown.
“We didn’t really have a theme, we just wanted everything to feel informal and relaxed. Our day had a lot of beautiful wildflowers from Grace & Thorn everywhere, they were very bright, and our wedding stationary was black, white and gold.”
Natalie’s gorgeous dress was bought from the haven of all things French and couture - The Mews Bridal in Notting Hill. Delphine Manivet’s designs have a graceful modernity and Natalie’s pick has more than a touch of 1920s glamour. This period style was the starting point for the heavenly opal-scattered design which would eventually crown Natalie’s tumbling glossy locks.
“My dress was by Delphine Manivet bought from The Mews Bridal in Notting Hill. I wanted something simple with a 90’s slip dress feel. The dress was more ‘bridal’ than I’d intended but it had a 20’s feel to it and really suited our venue, which is a renovated boutique hotel that used to be a working town hall in the 1920s.”
“I’ve been following the Tilly Thomas Lux Instagram and seeing the vintage pieces and inspiration for a while. As soon as I found my dress I knew a Tilly Thomas Lux piece would complement it perfectly - a contemporary twist on vintage. I knew that Sally had a similar style and taste to me and that she would be able to create the perfect finishing touch to my wedding day look.”
Meeting fabulous, individual brides is my very favourite part of the bespoke design process. I just love getting to know you ladies, learning about what makes you tick - taking all of these vital little details and combining them with different stones, shapes and designs to create the perfect piece to reflect your personality and big day style.
“I met Sally in a café; I had already sent images of my dress to her and also sent screen shots of the TTL products I loved (all of them!) She used this to bring a selection of finished headbands for me to try as well as a curated selection of sparkly stones and stars for me to see.”
“I loved everything that she’d chosen to complement my wedding day outfit. I asked for a mixture of the headband she’d bought along, with the addition of stars, more gold and grey opals. Sally took my request and sent me back a flat lay of my design - I had no changes, I loved it! My final headband was delivered a few weeks later and I adore it.”
I just adore Natalie’s bridal ensemble - understated chic with a splash of old school elegance - a perfect combination with one of my all time favourite stones; the subtly shimmering grey opal. The celestial, star-inspired design Natalie and I created is redolent with golden hues, reminiscent of exploding fireworks or close-knit constellations.
“Our favourite moment was when we exchanged rings and had our first kiss as husband and wife; our mums had just witnessed our marriage certificate so were stood either side of us.”
These beautiful details make my heart sing, I’m just so honoured to play a sparkly little role in this happiest of days. Don’t you just leave these gorgeous images? Lee Robbins is the talented man responsible for these documentary style stills, perfectly capturing the happiness radiating through the room as Natalie and her love tie the knot.
I hope you’ve enjoyed a gorgeous little insight into Natalie’s London nuptials, it was my absolute pleasure working with this lovely lady. If you’re newly engaged or part way through your wedding planning journey, get in touch - I’d love to hear from you and discuss all things sparkly.
With love and sparkle,
Sally x
